It´s prom season. Imagine being there with your dream date, you look fantastic, the music is playing all of your favorite songs; if only you knew how to dance…if only you took Mrs. Lainez’ dance class.

When someone who loves dance as much as Lainez, Del Campo’s resident dance teacher and one of the beloved advanced english teachers, you are guaranteed to have a fantastic and memorable experience. She has devoted most of her life to the study of dance and to the sharing of her passion with anyone who’s interested.

She offers a variety of different styles including ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, swing, salsa, and world dances. She loves when her students take on choreographing themselves.

“I liked being able to learn different styles, and how to choreograph and develop our own styles.” said Tessa Hornsby, one of Lainez’s  most recent pupils.

This is definitely not a class for unadventurous people. This class will push you and your boundaries.

“People who are willing to work hard, try new things, and be positive.” Remarked Lainez when asked what kind of people she is looking to join.

To her students and to Lainez, dance isn’t just a class, it’s a way of life. It’s a way to stay connected to others, it’s a way to understand our history. Above all however, everyone who has been with Lainez can agree; being in her class, is like having another family.

There is a lot of talent at Del Campo, untapped and waiting to be sculpted. Sadly dance isn’t offered all year so many of those talented youth go without learning and developing that skill and that passion.

“Participate, have fun, the more opener you are the happier. Listen to her. Don’t be shy.” said Lili Bryant, a former TA of Lainez who has performed ballet her entire life.

Dance has been at Del Campo for years now-don’t be the one to miss out.
