For this piece I used oil pastels and charcoal pencils. It was my first time ever using them and I wanted to test how bright the colors were. I started doing circles of the yellow in the middle and thought of a picture I had taken before so I wanted to recreate it. I added the birds and thought my poem would go perfectly with it.

Dusk
As dusk creeps in, the sun holds on for the last minutes of its shift before the moon takes over.
It creates a memorable scene, a deep orange glow cast its ray on my part of the world, demanding me to stop and take in its offering.
I pause.
The daylight winding down and the incoming night work together. Swirling the most magnificent colors that melt into each other making the sky a work of art. The shadows are soft the trees calm.
The scene is snapping to get my attention.
It has it.
With a gentle smile telling me to pause and take notice of the calm. Convincing me to find the peace in the picture it has created for me. Telling me to take the opportunity the moment has provided.
I listen.
I hear the birds basking in the last moments of daylight. The gentle echoes of my slow steps. Soft sounds of white noise as day and night merge telling me to take notice of what they are doing.
I notice.
I take a moment and feel the stillness of the night wanting to creep in. I notice the moons anticipation wanting to take the silent spotlight. Day and night telling me to appreciate and be thankful as they work together serenely to provide me this moment.
I oblige.
